history

Founded in 1804 by Michael Henkel as a boys' and men's choir, the choir was transformed into a mixed choir, as the cathedral choir is still today. This development primarily served to expand the repertoire of choral literature.

tasks and goals

His most important tasks include the musical participation in the pontifical and cathedral services in the Fulda Cathedral through polyphonic a cappella music and orchestral masses accompanied by instruments. The cathedral choir currently consists of 85 active singers.

Based on the self-image of the choir to act as a musical ambassador of faith, he also organizes concerts that are not only performed in Fulda, but can also be heard on choir tours such as in Austria, France, Mallorca, Italy and Malta.
