Dominic Fobih

Dominic Kwaku Fobih (born July 6, 1942 , Assin Jakai, Ghana) is a politician and university professor in Ghana . In the government of President John Agyekum Kufuor , Fobih was initially Minister for Environment and Science between 2001 and 2002, before moving to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry as Minister between 2003 and 2005. In the second term of President Kufuor from 2005, he became Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Mines ( Lands, Forestry and Mines ). After a government reshuffle in 2007, Fobih became Minister of Education, Sports and Science, succeeding Minister Papa Owusu-Ankomah , who resigned in July 2007 in order to be a candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2008 presidential primaries.

Fobih has spent almost his entire career as a college professor and teacher. As early as 1963 he received his teacher certificate (Teachers Certificate "A") in St. Augustine, Bogoso. This was followed by the General Certificate of Education in 1966 and his G.C .E. degree in 1970.

In 1974 he was awarded a Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Cape Coast. In Dalhousie, Canada, Fobih received his Masters and PhD from the University of Alberta in Educational Psychology . Fobih was teaching assistant at the universities of Alberta and Dalhousie in Canada, and lecturer at the University of Ilorin in Nigeria.

From 1979 Fobih taught at the University of Cape Coast until he became Minister for Environment and Science in 2001, during the first term of President Kufuor.

Fobih is the acting Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Mines in Ghana.
