Dominicus Bildhower

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dominicus Bildhower (born before 1500; died after 1526) was a Swiss carver .

Dominicus Bildhower was a son of Jos Gundersheimer (also Guntersumer ). He was accepted into the spinning weather guild in Basel in 1500 , where he worked as a chamberlain in 1504/05. Apparently he was not in Basel between 1508/1509 and 1523/1524. From 1524–1526 he was resident in Pruntrut , the seat of the Basel bishops. There are no known works by Dominicus Bildhower, but a number of works are ascribed to him and his father, including the winged altar from the Verena Chapel in Herznach (now in the Museum Aargau ) , consecrated in 1516 .
