Dominik Sackmann

Dominik Sackmann (* 1960 in Riehen ) is a Swiss musicologist , music writer and organist .

life and work

Sackmann studied organ with Susanne Linde in Zurich from 1980–1984 and took harpsichord courses with Ton Koopman , Don Franklin and Johann Sonnleitner. He also studied musicology, church history and Latin philology in Basel and Bern from 1980–1987 . In 1999 he received his doctorate in Zurich with studies on Johann Sebastian Bach and Arcangelo Corelli . From 1988-1993 he was music editor at DRS 2 . Since 1992 he has been a professor at the Zurich University of Music and Theater for music history , performance practice and chamber music. Since 2007 he has been head of the musical interpretation research area. Since 1994 he has been managing director of the Christoph Delz Foundation (Basel). Since 2006 he has been President of the Zurich Section of the Swiss Music Research Society, and since 2007 President of the Capriccio Baroque Orchestra. He published publications on Bach's instrumental music, the Bach reception, organ music, library history , performance practice and interpretation history as well as the history of music in Switzerland.
