Dominic Day

The St. Dominic's Day or Dominikustag since the reform of the Roman calendar (January 1, 1970) on August 8 , before August 4.

The day commemorates the founder of the Dominican Order, St. Dominic , who was canonized in 1234 .

This day of remembrance for Dominic on August 8 is also found in the calendars of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the Anglican Church.

For Saint Dominic at the time, the weather rule applies : "When it's hot on Dominic, a harsh winter must follow".
