Dominion - Tank Police ( Japanese ド ミ ニ オ ン ) is a completed manga series by the Japanese mangaka Masamune Shirow . Dominion - Tank Police is a typical end-time scenario of the science fiction and comedy genre.

The story takes place in the fictional city of Newport in the 21st century. The environment is polluted. There are aggressive bacteria everywhere in the air, from which people can only protect themselves with elaborate masks. But there is hope: A mysterious android named Greenpeace Crolis can clean the air from the pathogens.

Crime is the order of the day in Newport. The villain Buaku and his android companions Annapuma and Unipuma are constantly causing unrest. To restore order, the authorities set up a special unit with tanks, the Dominion Tank Policy . Behind it, however, is a chaotic bunch of clumsy tank drivers and egomaniacs. The main character of the plot is Leona Ozaki, a young police officer and member of the Tank Police. Leona loves her job, but she loves her Bonaparte tank even more .

Buaku is always one step ahead of the police. Whole houses are broken during his raids, even Leona's tank is destroyed and has to be rebuilt. Finally he succeeds in kidnapping the android Crolis, who is essential for solving the bacterial problem.

Now it is up to the tank police to catch Buaku and get Greenpeace back by all means. With huge robots and heavy armament, it comes to the final duel.

Publications

Dominion - Tank Police was published in Japan in 1986 and in Germany in 1996. There are five volumes in total. The first three of these form the actual story. The fourth contains an episode that takes place after the main story (without Buaku).

3 OVA series appeared for Dominion . The first Dominion appeared in 1988-1989. Their first two episodes describe how Leona Ozaki joined the tank police and where her Bonaparte tank came from . Episodes 3 and 4 illuminate the origins of Buaku and the creation of Greenpeace Chrolis.

The 2nd OVA Tokusō Senshatai Dominion ( 特 捜 戦 車隊 ド ミ ニ オ ン , dt. "Special investigation tank troop Dominion") by JCStaff was published 1993-1994. Its 6 episodes contain their own story and clearly stand out from the others visually and in terms of content. This can best be seen in the Puma sisters: In the actual series, they are significantly larger than all the other characters, blond-haired, very sexy and mostly heavily armed (e.g. at the beginning of episode 1 or at the end of episode 4) . In the last 6 episodes, on the other hand, they are of normal height (about the size of Leona), red-haired, have a rather normal appearance and are shown in one scene as unarmed casual thieves. The role of Leona was voiced by Rei Sakuma .

In 1995 Seishinsha published another manga volume, Dominion C1 Conflict-hen ( ド ミ ニ オ ン C1 コ ン フ リ ク ト ト , German "Dominion C1 conflict chapter"). This includes an alternate retelling of the original story.

Based on this manga, a 3rd OVA 2005 was published with Keisatsu Senshatai: Tank SWAT ( 警察 戦 車隊 TANK SWAT , Eng . "Polizeipanzertruppe: Panzer- SWAT "). This consists of only one episode with Satsuki Yukino in the role of Leona.
