Domitios Kallistratos
Domitios Kallistratos (Latin Domitius Callistratus ) was an ancient Greek local historian .
He wrote a local history of his hometown Herakleia Pontike in at least seven books that is only known from quotations. It is unclear whether he can be identified with a Kallistratos who wrote about the island of Samothrace and probably in the first half of the 1st century BC. Lived. However, as with many other Bithynians , the Gentiliz Domitius presumably goes back to a granting of Roman citizenship by the proconsul Gnaeus Domitius Ahenobarbus in the years 38 to 35 BC. BC back. Accordingly, Domitios probably only lived in the Roman Empire . It is not known whether he wrote his work before or after Memnon of Herakleia .
