Domnu

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Domnu is the name of a deity from the Fomori people in Celtic mythology of Ireland .

As a counterpart to Danu , the great "mother" of Túatha Dé Danann , Domnu is regarded as the main god of the Firbolg , who according to tradition worship the Fomori they expelled as their family of gods. The important positioning of Domnus can be recognized by the fact that Balor , Indech and Elatha are his children. The latter two also bear the patronymic (father's name) mac Dé Domnann ("Son of God Domnu"), Elatha is also called día Domnand ("God of Domnu"). A group of Firbolg call themselves Fir Domnand ("People of Domnu").
