Don's Maps is a non-commercial website that primarily offers a collection of material on several prehistoric topics. The focus is on the Paleolithic . In particular, photos and scientific articles or article excerpts are the focus. The collection of photos and articles on the subject of the artistic representation of humans in the Paleolithic (the so-called Venus figurines and comparable works of art) is probably the largest and most comprehensive on the Internet.

The webmaster is Don Hitchcock , who started the website in 1995 and has maintained and developed it since then. Hitchcock is a math teacher and lives in Armidale , Australia.

The quality of the pages relating to the Paleolithic is so high that the website is now used as a source for scientific work on the Paleolithic. Hitchcock himself contributes numerous of his own photographs, some of which are of excellent quality, but does not write any of his own essays on the subject, instead limiting the texts on his website to quoting the work of renowned scientists. He uses English, German and French-language specialist articles.

In addition to the Stone Age focus, the website also contains articles - primarily photos - on ancient Egypt , other historical and private topics from Hitchcock.
