Don Bosco Church (Klagenfurt am Wörthersee)
The Don Bosco Church is a Roman Catholic church in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee that was built in the 1980s.
history
In 1959, the diocese of Gurk bought the property in Hirschenwirtstrasse on the initiative of the pastor of Klagenfurt-Siebenhügel, Father Franz Penz SDB . It was then that today's parish began as a parish of the St. Josef-Siebenhügel parish. Thirteen years later, an apartment on Schmelzhüttenstrasse was temporarily set up as the Don Bosco pastoral care center, where services were celebrated from 1972 to 1983. It was to take until May 9, 1981 for the laying of the foundation stone for the new Don Bosco Church by Vicar General Franz Kirchner. After a construction period of almost three years, the church was solemnly consecrated by Diocesan Bishop Egon Kapellari on May 6, 1984 .
Bells
On May 2, 1999, Prelate Horst-Michael Rauter consecrated the new bells .
Parish
In terms of canon law, the Don Bosco Catholic Community Center is not a separate parish, but a rectorate that is part of the Klagenfurt-St. Josef / Siebenhügel belongs.
