Donald Hadfield

Donald James Fletcher Hadfield (born October 23, 1931 in Winnipeg , † January 18, 2005 there ) was a Canadian organist and choirmaster.

Hadfield began his musical career as a choirboy and studied organ from 1946 to 1953 with Douglas Bodle and Hugh Bancroft . He worked in his hometown as organist and choirmaster at St James Anglican Church (1946–51), St Aidan's Anglican Church (1951–53), St John's Cathedral (1953–58), All Saints' Anglican Church (1958 -65), then at St Matthias Church in Westmount (Montreal) (1965-67) and then again at All Saints' until his retirement in 1990 . With their choir he made four concert tours to England (1979, 1982, 1985 and 1989) and recorded two albums with anthems and hymns ( Through the Church Year with All Saints' Winnipeg , 1970, and How Lovely Are Thy Dwellings , 1983).
