Life

Galbreath comes from a US family of Scottish descent. His father was a dentist, his mother a teacher. After attending high school, he began studying at university in Germany, later in the USA and Switzerland. As a dentist, he opened a practice in Montreux (formerly Le Châtelard VD ) around 1910 .

His special talent for languages in English, German and French was very helpful to him in his scientific work in the field of heraldry . In collaboration with the heraldists Egon Freiherr von Berchem and Otto Hupp , a catalog of the German heraldic books of the Middle Ages was created.
