Ottmar Dillenburg (born June 15, 1961 in Alf near Bad Bertrich ) is a Catholic priest. Since October 2011 he has been General President of the Kolping Society .

Life

Ottmar Dillenburg studied theology in Munich and Trier. In 1989 he was ordained a priest. From 1989 he was chaplain in St. Wendel , in 1991 he was commissioned to work in the pastoral service in St. Peter and St. Albert in Andernach , and in 1992 he became vicar there . In 1994 Dillenburg became diocesan pastor of the Federation of German Catholic Youth (BDKJ) in the diocese of Trier and diocesan youth pastor. In 1997 he became pastor in Dillingen / Saar, Holy Sacrament and St. Johann . From 1999 to 2008 he was diocesan president of the Kolping Society in the Diocese of Trier, from 2004 to 2008 deputy federal president and from 2005 to 2011 pastoral companion of the Kolping youth. From 2005 to 2008 he was also the pastor of the Episcopal Cusanus Gymnasium in Koblenz. On October 24, 2008, the Federal Assembly of the Kolping Society in Essen elected Ottmar Dillenburg as the successor to Alois Schröder as Federal President. Schröder did not run for this office again after twelve years. In November 2008, the Continental Assembly in Brno, Czech Republic, elected Dillenburg in addition to the Kolping European President, also as Schröder's successor. On October 27, 2011, Dillenburg was elected General Praeses of the international Kolping Society in Rome. This makes him the ninth successor to the founder Adolph Kolping .

Pope Benedict XVI awarded Dillenburg in September 2010 the title of " Chaplain to His Holiness ".

Dillenburg's successor as Federal President of the Kolping Society has been Pastor Josef Holtkotte from the Diocese of Paderborn since October 2012.
