Alois Schröder

Alois Schröder (born January 8, 1942 in Paderborn ) is a Catholic priest. From September 2000 to October 2008 he was Federal President of the Kolping Society of Germany.

Alois Schröder studied at the universities of Paderborn , Würzburg and Münster . In 1969 he was ordained a priest. He worked as a pastor in Bad Wildungen (1969–1972) and Schmallenberg (1972–1977) and as a religion teacher and subsidiary in Brilon (1977–1988). From 1972 to 1977 he was President of the Kolping Family in Schmallenberg and from 1985 to 1988 District President in the Brilon District Association . From 1988 to 1997 Schröder served as President of the Kolping Society of Paderborn, from 1988 as President of the Kolping Family in Paderborn-Zentral. From 1990 to 1993 he was the state president of the Kolping Society in North Rhine-Westphalia . From November 1996 Schröder was Federal President of the Kolping Society of Germany and from September 2000 to November 2008 also President of the European Kolping Society. On October 24, 2008, the Federal Assembly in Essen elected Ottmar Dillenburg as Federal President, as Schröder did not run for this office again. Dillenburg also took over the office of President of Europe in November 2008.

On November 19, 2004, Schröder was given the honorary title of chaplain of His Holiness by Pope John Paul II .

Archbishop Hans-Josef Becker appointed Monsignor Schröder on November 1, 2008 as cathedral vicar and cathedral pastor of Paderborn Cathedral .
