The Donaubrücke Schalding is 1020 m, the longest bridge of Bundesautobahn 3 and the longest German Danube bridge.
The structure spans the Danube valley west of Passau in the districts of Schalding to the left and right of the Danube between the passages Passau-Nord and Passau-Mitte with eight fields. In addition to the Danube, the Regensburg – Passau railway line , Bundesstrasse 8 and Schaldinger Strasse on the right bank of the Danube, and State Road 2125 and Minihofstrasse on the left bank of the Danube will be bridged. The highway route is curved in the course of the bridge in plan. The girder bridge was built with a common superstructure for both lanes between 1969 and 1973.
superstructure
The bridge has a steel superstructure with the continuous beam as a structural system. The total span of the eight span bridge is 1020.0 m, with span widths of 86.5 m - 110.0 m - 130.0 m - 171.0 m - 171.0 m - 140.0 m - 110.0 m - 101 ,5 m. The construction height is 6.0 m. In the transverse direction, the main girder is a single-cell box girder with a 30.8 m wide orthotropic deck . The vertical web plates are arranged at a distance of 9.8 m. Cross members at a distance of 4.0 to 5.0 m as well as diagonal struts at twice the distance support the 10.5 m cantilevered road construction.
