Dong Yuan

Dong Yuan (* approx. 932 in Nanjing ; † approx. 962 ) was a Chinese painter. He was born in Zhonling and served during the southern Tang Kingdom of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms. He was from Nanjing, a center for culture and art.

Mi Fu was considered his successor, who was famous for his misty landscape paintings and his calligraphy .

During his lifetime, Dong Yuan was well known as his way of writing and painting was new. When he died in 962 AD, he was just 28 years old.
