Double idle sound

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Double minor tone is the name given to a chord that arises from a major or minor triad when one of the chord tones is replaced by its two leading tones from above and below. In major, the root note is mostly replaced (e.g. b-d flat-eg instead of ceg), in minor the fifth is mostly (e.g. c-es-f sharp-a- flat instead of c-es-g). Since every triad tone is surrounded by 2 leading tones, two or all triad tones can in principle be replaced by their leading tones. This creates multiple lead tone sounds with up to six tones.

The term double-string sound was also used to explain the Tristan chord .
