Double acting machine

Double-acting hot steam engines , water columns , hot air machines, etc., also pumps and blowers , which have the same effect when the piston moves back and forth .

A double-acting motor is an internal combustion engine according to the German standard DIN 1940 "Internal combustion engines; terms, signs, units" from March 1958, if the piston is "alternately acted upon by combustion gases".
