history

The previous church was washed away on April 26, 1654 by the flood of the Wipse river, including the entire upper town, the cemetery and the Wipse bridge.

In 1677, the owner of the Meusebach manor had a new church built.

The large hall church with a semicircular east end got a new interior design in 1887. In the apex of the choir there is a high, colored altar tabernacle with a life-size carved figure of Christ on the scourge column . The roof was re-covered in 1990 and interior renovation began in 1995.
