Meusebach (noble family)
The von Meusebach (also: Meußbach or Meuselbach ) were an old knightly Meusebach -Thuringian noble family with the same ancestral seat Meusebach near Jena .
history
The family was first mentioned in a document in 934 and the place in 1354 as Muzilbach . In the place of today's forester's house there used to be the ancestral castle of the family, remains of which were still there in 1657. The family held the inheritance of the commander of the Roda office ( Sachsen-Gotha-Altenburg ).
Family estates were located in Braunsdorf near Triptis , Bremsnitz , Buttelstedt , Casekirchen , Ebersdorf , Eineborn , Ichstedt , Karlsdorf , Leislau , Lippersdorf-Erdmannsdorf , Mechelroda , Rattelsdorf , Schwerstedt , Tautendorf , Tröbnitz , Voigtstedt , Waltersdorf , Wenigenauma and Weißbach . From 1496 to 1530 the family owned Burgscheidungen Castle as a fief. In 1543 the family gave up their ancestral seat of the same name and lived on their estates in Ottendorf and Tröbnitz.
In 1688 Johann Georg von Meusebach was confirmed to be an imperial baron.
