In the village is the "Gleichensche Hof", a Freihof that belonged to the Blankenhain rule, while the manor with the rest of the village was incorporated into the Weimar Office as the seat of a patrimonial court .

From the beginning of the 19th century, the place was part of the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach and after 1945 with the state of Thuringia became part of the Soviet occupation zone and the GDR . Since 1990 the place belongs to the newly founded state of Thuringia.

The Protestant church is a small, massive and originally plastered hall church with an eastern roof tower. It was built in 1707 instead of a predecessor (1580). Renovations took place in 1888 and 1965. Inside there is a vaulted wooden ceiling and two-story galleries . A baroque pulpit altar stands in the west. The font with an octagonal limestone basin dates from the 15th century. In front of the altar strip is the tombstone for Anna von Nesselrot from 1581.
