The Protestant village church Mechelroda is located in the municipality of Mechelroda in the Weimarer Land district in Thuringia . It belongs to the Buchfart parish in the Weimar parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The village church is centrally located in the village.

history

The church was rebuilt in 1707. Old parts of the predecessor were included. In a reused stone above the west facade is the year 1682. In front of the altar stipes is the tombstone for Anna von Nesselrot from 1581.

architecture

It is a rectangular building with a gable roof and on the east side is the church tower as a turret with a double curved baroque hood and small bells from 1812. In 1999 the church roof was re-covered. The renovation of the walls is imminent.

The church has a uniform appearance, inside with wooden benches and a mansion on the first gallery and a pulpit altar . The altar faces west. A small porch leads to the church or a small staircase to the gallery. On the second gallery is the organ , created and installed in 1834 by the Witzmann brothers from Stadtilm .

Trivia

Alexander Wilhelm Gottschalg (1827–1908), a friend of Franz Liszt and court organist at the Weimar court, played the organ .
