About this picture

The community of Grammetal is a rural community in the Thuringian district of Weimarer Land , which was created on December 31, 2019 through the merger of the nine member communities of the Grammetal administrative community .

geography

Grammetal lies between the state capital Erfurt in the west and Weimar in the east on the southern edge of the Thuringian basin . The community area essentially rises from north to south, but in the north-east the outskirts of the Ettersberg also belong to the community. The deepest points are north and west of Niederzimmer at 193 meters and rise to 445 meters on Ettersberg and to 469 meters south-east of Eichelborn. The name- giving Gramme , a tributary of the Unstrut, has its source near Nohra .

The community Grammetal consists of the 16 localities Bechstedtstraß , Daasdorf a. Berge , Eichelborn , Hayn , Hopfgarten , Isseroda , Mönchenholzhausen , Niederzimmer , Nohra , Obergrunstedt , Obernissa , Ottstedt a. Berge , Sohnstedt , Troistedt , Ulla and Utzberg .

In addition to the independent cities of Erfurt in the west and Weimar in the east, Grammetal borders three communities in the Weimarer Land district: Am Ettersberg in the north, the city of Bad Berka in the southeast and Klettbach in the southwest.

history

In 2007, the municipalities of Bechstedtstrasse, Isseroda, Hopfgarten, Niederzimmer, Nohra and Ottstedt aB decided to merge on January 1st, 2009, which Nohra withdrew on March 27th, 2008 because the municipality did not want to give up its local district rights. New negotiations began in 2011, but failed in 2013. The Thuringian municipal regulations, which were changed in 2016, prompted a new attempt to merge municipalities, in which the municipal councils of eight municipalities approved the formation of a rural municipality. Only the municipality of Mönchenholzhausen planned to incorporate it into Erfurt, which was overturned in a referendum on September 23, 2018 with just 568 to 536 votes. A request from Weimar on regional issues was not accepted.

The Thuringian law on the voluntary reorganization of municipalities belonging to the district in 2019 saw the dissolution of the administrative community Grammetal and the merger of its nine member municipalities Bechstedtstraß, Daasdorf a. Berge, Hopfgarten, Isseroda, Mönchenholzhausen, Niederzimmer, Nohra, Ottstedt a. Berge and Troistedt before. The law was adopted by the state parliament on September 12, 2019 and came into force on December 31, 2019.

politics

The community council with 20 members was elected for the first time on July 19, 2020 in the newly founded community. Until the new council met, the council consisted of 76 members from all the former councils of the 9 founding congregations.

After the re-establishment of Grammetal, Alexandra Seelig initially headed the community as "Representative of the community of Grammetal".

In the election for the full-time mayor on July 19, 2020 none of the 3 applicants could achieve an absolute majority, in the runoff election on August 2, 2020 Roland Bodechtel (CDU) prevailed with 52.3% of the valid votes cast.

traffic

Due to its central location within the Thuringian city chain , Grammetal is well developed in terms of transport. By the municipality, the lead A 4 to the terminal points Erfurt Vieselbach and Nohra and north parallel, the Federal Straße 7 . Bundesstraße 85 (Weimar– Saalfeld / Saale ) also runs in the eastern municipality . In the west, parts of the motorway, the B 7 and the state road 1056 belong to the Erfurter Ring .

The Halle – Bebra railway line crosses the municipality, and there is a stop in Hopfgarten. The Weimar – Kranichfeld railway line also runs in the south-east, with a stop in Obergrunstedt.
