Heinrich Dittmer (born March 27, 1778 in Bremen , † after 1821) was a German practical and military surgeon, poet and editor .

Life

Dittmer, who was born in Bremen in 1778 at the time of the personal union between Great Britain and Hanover , published various essays and poems between 1807 and 1809 in the morning paper for educated estates and in the anthology Blumenkranze gregarious joy and innocent joy for good and happy people , a selection of chants based on melodies that were mostly known at the time.

After completing medical training, Dittmer settled as a general practitioner in Lilienthal in the so-called " French era " in 1812 near his native Bremen . There he worked for a short time as a mayor in 1813 . But as early as the spring of 1814 he joined the Mündenschen Landwehr Battalion as a surgeon in the troops against the Napoleonic occupiers and accompanied them during the campaigns against France.

After the former Electorate of Hanover was elevated to the Kingdom of Hanover , Dittmer returned to Hanover in 1819 . There he was initially put on waiting allowance due to his weakened health . A little later, however, he was able to privatize in Hanover in 1821 - with the character of a British lieutenant .

The retired surgeon and poet Heinrich Dittmer, who lived in Hanover's "Röselerstraße No. 323" at the end of August 1822, was known to posterity, in particular as the author of an extensive description of the celebrations that he held on the occasion of the visit of the then Hanoverian sovereign Georg IV. , King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland . In addition to a frontispiece with the portrait of the king and 19 illustrations in the form of copperplate engravings and lithographs, the work also contained two maps . In his writing, Dittmer published drafts and drawings, engravings and lithographs of buildings by his contemporaries in Hanover, Göttingen , Northeim , Osnabrück , Münden and Pattensen , in the office of Blumenau , Müggenburg in the district of Celle and in the office of Springe , including the Partly colored works by court painter Johann Heinrich Ramberg , court building officer Georg Ludwig Friedrich Laves , the copper engravers Schwerdgeburth, Ernst Ludwig Riepenhausen and Johann Georg Schwab , the Northeim doctor Louise Tittmann , the artilleryman, fireworks and lithographer Georg Heinrich Hoffmann and others.
