Waiting allowance

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A waiting allowance is generally referred to as a payment to someone who has not been on duty for some time and who is financially compensated for the waiting time for a new assignment.

General definitions

The waiting allowance was paid to persons, particularly civil servants or officers, who were retired early or temporarily . The amount of the payment was based on the previous salary and was paid proportionally. It was granted if the person concerned did not have to quit his job through his own fault, even if he got another job. The waiting allowance could be as high as the previous earnings and was generally higher than the later pension payments in retirement.

Meyers Konversationslexikon

"Wait money, the part of the content, which one set to the provisional retirement for disposition is made to grant official or officer to its reuse in the public service. The waiting allowance is usually higher than the pension. [...] In a different sense, waiting money is used synonymously with demurrage [...]. "

Officials Act of 1937

“The waiting allowance is eighty percent of the pensionable salary. However, for each full year or part thereof that the civil servant lacks fifteen years of pensionable service, the waiting allowance is reduced by two percent of the pensionable salary. The waiting allowance is in no case more than eighty percent of the pensionable salary of a civil servant from the final stage of salary group A 1a of the Reich salary order. If, however, the civil servant has already earned a higher pension at the time of his being put on hold, he will receive a waiting allowance in the amount of the pension earned at that time. "

Cornelius Heyl leather factory

The first production company in Germany to introduce a waiting allowance for its employees was the Heylschen Lederwerke in Worms . In order not to have to dismiss the leather workers from their employment in times when there was little sunlight available for leather production, the management introduced the waiting allowance for the workers as early as 1896, which was paid out without any deductions The resulting non-wage costs, such as contributions to the company health insurance or old-age insurance, were paid by the company. The waiting allowance was staggered between female employees, male, unmarried employees and married employees and amounted to between 1 million and 2 million and 50 pfennigs per day. Under no circumstances did the waiting allowance have to be repaid and no consideration had to be provided.

Evangelical Church in Germany

The Evangelical Church in Germany regulates the receipt of waiting allowance in 2013 as follows.

A reduction of 2% is made for each full and commenced year of service that does not have a pensionable period of service (25 years of service). However, it is at least 50% of the pensionable salary.
  • The waiting allowance may not be higher than the salary to which the applicant was entitled at the time of being put on hold.

The insured person must make himself available to the Luxembourg labor administration for the entire period of receipt of the waiting allowance.
