As part of the voluntary mergers of the regional reforms in 2018 and 2019, the municipalities of Berlstedt, Buttelstedt (city), Großobringen, Heichelheim, Kleinobringen, Krautheim, Ramsla, Sachsenhausen, Schwerstedt, Vippachedelhausen and Wohlsborn agreed on a merger to form the city and rural municipality on January 1, 2019 At the Ettersberg. Together with Ballstedt , Ettersburg and Neumark (city) as well as Rohrbach and Leutenthal, they belonged to the administrative community of the northern district of Weimar , which was also dissolved on January 1, 2019. Municipal council
