Ottmannshausen is a district of the rural community Am Ettersberg in the Weimarer Land district in Thuringia .

geography

The district of Ottmannshausen is located at the foot of the northern roofing of the Ettersberg and on the southern edge of the Thuringian Basin south of Berlstedt on the county road 305. Ettersburg is the southern neighbor. The water from the spring that feeds the village pond is called Synderbach . The pond is in the middle of the place. At Ramsla it flows into the pool . Finally, the water of the Synderbach flows together with that of the Lache into the Scherkonde , a tributary of the Lossa .

history

Ottmannshausen was first mentioned in a document on December 17, 1313. In 1580 a fire raged in the village with much damage. In 1640 there were 39 inhabited and 35 uninhabited houses as a result of the Thirty Years War . Most of the fields lay fallow. There were hardly any cattle. Nevertheless, front loads should still be brought.

In 1723 the baroque village church was built. The bells were cast as early as 1629. In 1747 lightning destroyed nine houses. In 1848 a hurricane destroyed the older houses. On April 11, 1945, the US Army marched into the town .

In 1972 the village became part of Berlstedt.

After the fall of the Wall , there was a village renewal. From 1995 to 1998 there were subsidies for the thorough renovation. The outdoor pool could also be renovated.
