Daasdorf is part of the rural community Am Ettersberg in the Weimarer Land district in Thuringia . To distinguish it from Daasdorf am Berge , which is also in the district of Weimarer Land, the place name is often also written Daasdorf bei Buttelstedt or Daasdorf b Buttelstedt .

Daasdorf is located about ten kilometers north of Weimar in the southeast of the Thuringian Basin at an altitude of about 200 meters. The 478 meter high Ettersberg rises about seven kilometers to the southwest . The Rassel brook flows on the western edge of the village and is connected to the Unstrut via Scherkonde and Lossa .

The area around Daasdorf is almost free of forests and is mainly used for agriculture.

The place was first mentioned in the Breviarium Sancti Lulli from the year 786 as Tasiesdorf . It is assumed that the place name can be traced back to a Frankish settler or feudal man. In 1330 the place essentially consisted of two settler farms, which later formed a manor . The corridor had 29 hooves . In the 16th century the Reformation arrived, before that the place belonged to the Catholic Archdiocese of Mainz . From the partition of Erfurt in 1572, Daasdorf was part of the Ernestine duchies of Saxony-Weimar and Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach . In 1871 235 people lived in the 53 houses in the village. In 1913 Daasdorf was connected to the power grid. In the 1930s the place had almost 300 inhabitants. In 1994 the village was incorporated into the city of Buttelstedt. Together with ten other municipalities, this formed the rural municipality of Am Ettersberg on January 1, 2019.

Based on the original lower part of the church tower, it is assumed that the church was built in the late Romanesque period. The mighty and east-facing tower is typical of a fortified church against the Slavs who pushed from the east in the early Middle Ages . At the end of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th century, the nave was extensively rebuilt. Today's bell was consecrated on September 3, 1857, and was cast by the Ulrich brothers from Apolda .

Castle site

To the north-east of Daasdorf there was a high medieval castle in the area of ​​the Rassel valley . Pottery from 10/11 was also found in this area. Century found. Today only an oval hill with a diameter of 25 to 40 meters can be seen at this point, which is classified as a ground monument .

The cultural life of the place is determined by the Heimatverein Daasdorf. The Daasdorf tennis club was founded in 1999. From 2010 to 2015, the Daasdorf brass band was part of village life .

The federal road 85 leads through the western edge of the village. There is also regular bus service between Weimar and Kölleda .

Until 1946, Daasdorf had a stop on the Weimar – Buttelstedt – Großrudestedt railway line . After several applications for closure had been submitted before the Second World War, the tracks were dismantled from 1946 as a reparation payment to the Soviet Union . Today the embankment is used for the Laura cycle path .
