location

Frankendorf (Thuringia) is a very old farming village east of the city of Weimar in the arable farming area around Apolda . The federal road 7 opens up the area.

history

Frankendorf is mentioned for the first time in 1200 in a document from Burgrave Dietrich von Kirchberg and came to the city of Erfurt in 1350 as part of the Kapellendorf rule . War destruction occurred during the Thirty Years' War and after the Battle of Jena in 1806. A major fire struck Frankendorf in 1802.

The community is the birthplace of the soccer player Armin Romstedt , who played an international match for the GDR and played for FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt from 1979 to 1992 .
