Karlsdorf , formerly also Carlsdorf , is a municipality in the southeast of the Saale-Holzland district and part of the Hügelland / Täler administrative community in Thuringia.

The place is located in the southeastern Saale-Holzland district. The district borders on the Saale-Orla district and lies in the Saale-Elster sandstone slab . The place is surrounded by fields, meadows and forests. The valley location resulted in the street layout and the elongated village.
history
Karlsdorf was first mentioned in a document on August 19, 1300. The farmers in the village, which is characterized by agriculture and forestry, took the path of collectivization of their farms in the 1950s, even under duress .
