Scheiditz is a municipality in the east of the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia . The fulfilling municipality is Bad Klosterlausnitz . Scheiditz is currently the second smallest municipality in Thuringia after Kleinbockedra .

Scheiditz is located in the north of the Holzland in the narrow valley of the Gleisbach not far from Bürgel and can only be reached from the south by a side road.
history
The place was first mentioned in 1339 . He belonged to the Ernestine-Wettin Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg , within which he was assigned to the western district. In 1910 110 inhabitants lived in the isolated village, since 1920 it has belonged to the state of Thuringia, in the GDR now part of the Gera district.
Attractions
Scheiditz is characterized by traditional three and four-sided courtyards, some of which are listed. The place also has a restored war memorial.
