Friedrich Bernhard Störzner

Friedrich Bernhard Störzner (born May 21, 1861 in Scheiditz ; † October 13, 1933 in Arnsdorf ) was a cantor and teacher in Arnsdorf. He wrote several books on local history.

Life

After graduating from high school and attending the teachers' college in Annaberg , Friedrich Bernhard Störzner worked as a teacher. In 1885 he was recalled to Arnsdorf to take up the position of teacher and cantor. At the age of 63 he was retired as headmaster in 1924 as part of the Civil Service Reduction Act of 1923. In 1932 he resigned from his position as cantor in Arnsdorf.

On numerous hikes, Störzner explored his Saxon homeland, wrote reports, collected legends and pictures. He published numerous booklets and brochures on places around Arnsdorf, wrote countless newspaper articles about the immediate area and dealt with local history topics on Lusatia , the Elbe Valley , the Ore Mountains and Thuringia .

His most important work is the book Was die Heimat Tell (1904), which is illustrated with drawings by the painters Oskar Seyffert and F. Rowland . It deals with West Lusatia , the Radeberger Land as well as Bad Schandau and Sebnitz . Störzner was a member of the Mountain Association for the Saxon Switzerland Section Radeberg and, together with the Radeberg Theodor Arldt and other historians, co- authored the Mühlenbuch - Von Mühlen und Müllern published by Alfred Meiche as a celebratory gift for the 50th anniversary of the Mountain Association in 1927 on behalf of the entire board Contributed significantly in the work area of ​​the Mountain Association for Saxon Switzerland (Dresden, Verlag A. Urban 1927).

Störzner's grave is in the Arnsdorf cemetery. It was restored in 1993, before the 60th anniversary of his death.
