Mörsdorf is a municipality in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia and part of the Hermsdorf administrative community .
geography
The place is about two kilometers northeast of Quirla in the immediate vicinity of the A 4 running north . The state road L 1076 leads through Mörsdorf from Stadtroda towards Reichenbach . Mörsdorf lies on a ridge between Saale and Weißer Elster in a small valley basin (old town center). The place does not have a flowing body of water, but the Mörsdorfer area is abundantly provided with groundwater, all ponds are filled with groundwater.
history
The village was first mentioned in a document in 1457. According to the local history, the place was called Mertensdorf or Martinsdorf around 1150 , from 1520 they spoke of Mersdorf , from 1600 of Mörsdorf . The first settlers in the area were the Sorbs around 900, but they had to give way to warlike Germanic tribes. Franconians and Thuringians immigrated from the west and southwest because of the abundance of forests and the fertile soils.
Attractions
One of the sights of the village is the village church Mörsdorf ( location → ) in the center of the village. It houses a Gerhard organ from 1765.
