Location of the community of Kleineutersdorf in the Saale-Holzland district | ||
Kleineutersdorf is a municipality in the south of the Saale-Holzland district and part of the administrative community of the southern Saale valley .
geography
Kleineutersdorf is located on the right side of the Saale in the Middle Saale Valley opposite Großeutersdorf, about 2 km upstream from Kahla .
history
Kleineutersdorf was first mentioned in 1349/50 as Windischen-Eudisdorf, which means as much as Wendish (= Sorbian) Eutersdorf, because Wendish settlers were involved in the clearing and cultivation process in the later Kleineutersdorfer Flur in the 12th and 13th centuries. After the defeat of the farmers under Thomas Müntzer near Frankenhausen in 1525, the Anabaptists remained attached to the convictions of their leader for a long time. An Augsburg Anabaptist came out against the new church order in 1527 in the Saale villages. He is said to have baptized the miller Hans Peißker. Until 1535 there was a center of the Anabaptist movement in the place. On November 20 of that year, 16 Anabaptists were arrested. Three of them did not revoke their convictions during the interrogations at which Philipp Melanchthon was also present. Among them was the Kleineutersdorf miller. They were beheaded on January 26th in Jena.
