Rauda is a municipality in the northeast of the Saale-Holzland district near Eisenberg and part of the Heideland-Elstertal-Schkölen administrative community .
geography
The place is located on the Rauda stream of the same name , which rises near Hermsdorf and flows east of the place near Crossen into the White Elster . A bit to the west of the village is the northern entry into the Eisenberger Mühltal .
Neighboring communities are the city of Eisenberg , Hartmannsdorf (near Eisenberg) , Heideland and Silbitz (OT Seifartsdorf).
history
Rauda was first mentioned in a document in September 1219. The place belonged to the Wettin district office of Eisenberg , which was under the sovereignty of various Ernestine duchies due to several divisions in the course of its existence . In 1826 the place came with the southern part of the Eisenberg district office and the city of Eisenberg from the Duchy of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg to the Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg . From 1920 he belonged to the Free State of Thuringia.
In 1880 Rauda was connected to the Crossen – Eisenberg railway line , which was extended to Porstendorf in 1905 . In 1999 the traffic on the remaining part of Crossen – Eisenberg was stopped. On the former railway line there is now a cycle path that leads from Eisenberg through Rauda to the Elster cycle path .
