history
Small buckedra was first mentioned in 1395 as Wynczigen Bugkedrow ; At that time, the place was the seat of the Knights of Bockedra, who worked as robber barons around 1400. The name Bockedra is of Sorbian origin and means "beech peeler", a settlement of the Angerdorf by Sorbs in the early Middle Ages can therefore be assumed. Initially belonging to the Zeitz region, the place later came to the Electorate of Saxony and was owned by the Ernestine Wettins after the division of the country in the 15th century . Ecclesiastically, the parish Großbockedra, to which Kleinbockedra belongs, was subordinate to the diocese of Naumburg . The Reformation arrived here in 1539. As part of the Ernestine partitions, the place came to the Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg , within which it was administered by the western district. Kleinbockedra has belonged to the state of Thuringia since 1920. Kleinbockedra has always retained the character of a tranquil rural community despite its proximity to Jena. In 1910 the population was 78.
politics
Kleinbockedra has a six-member local council. In the mayoral election in 2004, 29 of the 39 eligible voters took part; Monika Mehlhorn was elected with 65% of the valid votes. Lars Koszarek was elected mayor on June 5, 2016. Twenty of the 33 eligible voters took part in the election. Koszarek accounted for 90%.
