Later, Albersdorf was part of the Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg , which in 1920 became part of the newly founded state of Thuringia. The economic life of the village used to be characterized by numerous forestry and local handicraft businesses, as well as a sawmill . Today's Albersdorf-based companies include several construction companies, a company active in gardening and landscape technology, a dog school and a motorcycle dealer.
