history

The first written mention of today's Holzland municipality comes from the year 1191. The church of the place was built in the 12th century. In the 15th century the place passed from the manorial rule of the Lords of Lobdeburg to the patronage of the nobles von Brand, under which it stood until the 17th century. Later, Albersdorf was part of the Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg , which in 1920 became part of the newly founded state of Thuringia. The economic life of the village used to be characterized by numerous forestry and local handicraft businesses, as well as a sawmill . Today's Albersdorf-based companies include several construction companies, a company active in gardening and landscape technology, a dog school and a motorcycle dealer.

The involvement of Albersdorf in the village renewal in the years after the reunification included u. a. the renovation and modernization of the youth and athletes' home as well as the community center with volunteer fire brigade , community office and hall.
