Location of the municipality of Tröbnitz in the Saale-Holzland district | ||
Tröbnitz is a municipality in the south of the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia and part of the Hügelland / Täler administrative community .
location
Tröbnitz is located south of the town of Stadtroda in the valley of the Roda river of the same name . Wooded slopes and hills of the so-called valley villages to the right and left of the valley .
history
In the 7th and 8th centuries, the Slavs began to settle the areas on the Saale and along the Rodaue. The origin of the municipality of Tröbnitz is most likely in a Sorbian hamlet at the beginning of the 12th century. The first documentary mention, however, goes back to September 29, 1223 , after Sorbs cleared a piece of land in the vicinity of the confluence of the Rothehofbach in the Roda.
Tröbnitz, which was still the manor of Otto de Trebnitz around 1300 , passed into the hands of the Meusebach family as a manor over time . Messrs Hans and Apitz von Meusebach were the first Meusebachers in Tröbnitz and at the same time the first medieval court lords and landlords of the earlier settlement.
When the last of the Meusebach line died around 1753, the former Meusebach manor was transformed into a princely chamber property in 1789 . The settlement's forest workers began to look for their future in agriculture and saw their opportunity as smallholders. Through the purchase of the former Meusebacher manor fields, viable farms emerged over time.
Due to the less productive agriculture, a grinding and cutting mill and a steam brewery began to be built in the times of industrialization, but both of them were not viable.
Until the middle of the 20th century, the economic development of the place was primarily driven by the Prager families, later Letsch and John, who had a similarly large influence on the development of the village as the former Meusebach family.
The rural structure lasted until the GDR was founded . The conversion took place in 1956, when the individual farms were converted into agricultural production cooperatives (LPG). With the separation of livestock and field farming in 1975, traditional agriculture in Tröbnitz came to an end.

Place name
The name Tröbnitz goes back to the name "trebenic", which was around 1115 and which has changed over the centuries more and more in the direction of today's place name: 1266 "Trebenitz", 1300 "Trebnitz" and around 1310 "Trebenicz". The origin of this name lies in the settlement of the area by the Slavs.
