Church of St. Peter and Paul

The village church of St. Peter and Paul is located in Kleineutersdorf in the administrative community of the southern Saale valley in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia . It belongs to the parish Kahla Hummelshain in Kirchenkreis Eisenberg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

history

In 1831, the church was built on the site of a previous building that had been demolished, partly from demolition material. It was built with a single nave with a retracted choir tower and arched windows. The exterior is stone-visible except for the plastered tower superstructure.

Furnishing

The nave has a pulpit altar and three-sided two-story galleries built into the long sides . In 1859 the two-story gallery and the pulpit altar were dismantled and replaced by the one that still exists today. Five carved figures, two of which are from the late Gothic period, have been preserved. Two of the characters are Peter and Paul .

The organ was manufactured in 1834 by the Jena organ builder August Poppe and extensively renovated in 1988/89.

The statue " Maria with the Child " of the type of the beautiful Madonna , created around 1420, is today in the Thuringian Museum in Eisenach .
