Quirla is a district of the small town of Stadtroda in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia .

Quirla is right next to exit 55 “Stadtroda” on the A4 .

Neighboring towns are Ruttersdorf-Lotschen in the north, Bollberg and Mörsdorf in the east, Möckern and Tissa in the south and Stadtroda in the west.

climate

The annual precipitation is 584 mm. The rainfall is low. They are in the lower quarter of the values ​​recorded in Germany. Lower values ​​are registered at 18% of the measuring stations. The driest month is February, with the most rainfall in June. In June there is 2.4 times more rainfall than in February. Precipitation varies greatly. Higher seasonal fluctuations are registered at only 23% of the measuring stations.

history

Quirla was first mentioned in 1525/26, Dorna on August 24, 1300.

To the west of the Dorna district is a medieval rampart on the Streitkuppe. It is divided into two larger areas by walls and ditches. The facility is also called "Schwedenschanze".

In 1998 the former restaurant "Waldschlösschen" was bought by the community and has since been used as a village community center. Since 2013 the carnival events of the Faschingsgesellschaft Quirla eV have also taken place here.

On the night of October 1 to October 2, 2006, a tornado of magnitude F3 occurred in the village , severely damaging around 20 houses, slightly damaging another 30 houses and injuring three people.

From September to December 2017, the "Zwergenhügel" kindergarten was renovated, increasing the capacity to 38 children. In the following year, the cycle path from Quirla to Mörsdorf was built.

On January 1st, 2019 Quirla was incorporated into Stadtroda. The last mayor was Robin Kusch.

Economy and Social

The place offers both a truck stop and restaurants, such as the "TruckStop" at the entrance to the village, the "Altenburger Hof" in the center and the "Weihertalmühle" in Weihertal. There are also craft and service companies, the day care center “Zwergenhügel” and a nursing service.
