Location of Wenigenauma in Thuringia

Wenigenauma Church

Wenigenauma is a district of the rural community city Auma-Weidatal in the district of Greiz in Thuringia .

geography

The district of the place lies in the northern end of the south-east Thuringian slate mountains, which has fertile soils due to its soil structure. The state road 1087 leads past Wenigenauma to the south, which connects Auma and Wenigenauma with Zeulenroda-Triebes .

history

Wenigenauma was first mentioned in a document in 1378, and the simple church was built in 1719. It is reported that the village has always had an estate. The last owner of the manor was Mrs. Edith Härpfer from 1920 to 1945. Her estate was expropriated in October 1945 after the decisions of the victorious powers. 15 new settlers and 11 poor farmers received land and inventory. In 1958 the agricultural production cooperative " Thomas Müntzer " and in 1960 the LPG "Einheit" were founded. In the 1960s, the place was relieved of through traffic by the new connecting road from Auma to Zeulenroda .

On March 25, 1994, the village was incorporated into Auma.

Economy and Infrastructure

During the GDR era there was a potato sorting facility in the village. From 1990 an industrial area was developed.

At the beginning of the 1980s, an equestrian facility was built in the village, which became a center for pony and small horse sports. Every last Sunday in July there is a big tournament there.
