Muntscha is a district of the rural community Auma-Weidatal in the Thuringian district of Greiz .

location

The town of Muntscha is located about 22 kilometers as the crow flies west of the district town of Greiz and three kilometers south of the core town of Auma and is on federal highway 2 . The highest point is the Keitenberg ( 438.5  m above sea level ) on the northern edge of the district.

history

It was first mentioned in 1378 as Monscow . In Muntscha already in 1553 a mill not yet mentioned in a document was managed by Müller Knittel according to church documents. It was not until 1682 that the mill was first mentioned in a document during an inspection. In 1976 this mill belonged to the LPG Pahren. In 1980/1981 one wing of the farm building burned down. In 1992 compound feed production came to a standstill and the sawmill also ceased operations. The previous owner Heinrich Söllner bought the mill back after the reunification of the two German states, but sold it on. There is now an antique second-hand goods shop in the building . The half-timbered building hints at the past of a mill.

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality of Zickra b. Auma incorporated.

Culture and sights

In the middle of the village is the Muntscha village church , which was rebuilt in 1809 after a fire , other sights include the town center, which was restored in 1997 as part of the village renewal, the so-called "Napoleon Oak" on the village square and the former ski jumping hill Keitenberg.
