Göhren-Döhlen is a district of the rural municipality of Auma-Weidatal . Until 2011 the place was an independent municipality.

Göhren-Döhlen is not far from the Weidatalsperre in the Thuringian Slate Mountains . Neighboring communities or places are the city of Hohenleuben , Steinsdorf and the city of Zeulenroda-Triebes .

The district is made up of the villages of Döhlen and Göhren .
history
Döhlen was first mentioned in 1230 as "Doeln" and then in 1356 as "Dolen". In 1260, the Döhlenmühle was first mentioned in a document next to the original parish in the village. The place name is derived from the Slavic "Doljane" (valley dweller). Göhren was first mentioned in the documents in 1324 as "Goren" and in 1451 as "Goerynn", derived from the Slavic "Gorjane" (mountain dweller).
Göhren-Döhlen was a member of the Weidatal administrative community until January 3, 1996 , after which the community belonged to the Auma-Weidatal administrative community . On December 1, 2011, the city of Auma and the communities of Braunsdorf , Göhren-Döhlen, Staitz and Wiebelsdorf merged to form the rural community of Auma-Weidatal.
