Steinsdorf is a district of the city of Weida in the Greiz district in Thuringia , about two kilometers south of Weida.

geography

Steinsdorf is located in the east of Thuringia and is about 15 kilometers south of Gera . Steinsdorf itself is in a beautiful scenic location on a sloping ridge that rises on the edge of the Weidatal . Large fields and meadows spread around the place, framed by mixed forests.

history

Steinsdorf was mentioned for the first time in a document on October 4, 1209 (equipment certificate of the Mildenfurth monastery ) under the name of Stenszdorff. Kahl confirms this date. This name is derived from the old Slavic term stene , which means something like "young dog". Steinsdorf was therefore probably a settlement of the dog breeders for the stately hunting dogs. In the equipment certificate, four tenants were named as residents. From this it can be concluded that the settlement existed a long time before. But there was also a mill on the Weida, whose miller was first mentioned in 1485 because he helped the miller of the Katschmühle with an oil stamp. The mill house of the Nattermühle fell victim to the flames in 1902. After reunification, the property was returned to the previous owner. She leased the property, which is used by repatriates and asylum seekers. In 1320 Steinsdorf was mentioned again in a document. In this document, Heinrich, the Vogt zu Weida , confirmed to the Weida nunnery that the altar in St. Peter's Church had been furnished with interest from Steinsdorf, Staitz , Großbocka and the Münze zu Weida.

The third essential document for Steinsdorf was issued on November 21, 1367. A "Cunrad von Stensdorf" is spoken of here, who was named as a knight by Heinrich Vogt von Weida and who owned the manor. Since then and over the following centuries, the gender name "von Steinsdorf" has been retained. It was not until 1715 that the last of the family, an "Adam Antony von Steinsdorf", perished. A sister of the last landowner, Dorothea Elisabeth von Steinsdorf, was married to Georg Wilhelm von Müffling at the time. In 1716 the fiefdom was transferred to this Georg Wilhelm von Müffeling. His son Heinrich Conrad was given the estate in 1723. In 1738 the estate was sold to Baron von Bardeleben, who went bankrupt after a few years. In 1750 the estate was bought by Johann August Ernst Baron von Bardeleben. In 1824 the estate passed into the possession of Captain Hans Carl von Görschen . From 1886 the estate belonged to the Wagner family through a marriage. The last owner from 1942 was Jürgen Wagner, who lived in Hamburg until his death in 1999 . This property ended with the expropriation as part of the land reform .

Steinsdorf has been a member of the Leubatal administrative association since 1991 . This was dissolved on December 31, 2013 and Steinsdorf was incorporated into Weida at the same time .

The former municipalities of Gräfenbrück and Loitsch (independent until June 30, 1950) and Schüptitz (incorporated on January 1, 1974) were districts of Steinsdorf. All three former communities and Steinsdorf were in the Gera district until the end of June 1994 .

Steinsdorf was incorporated into the city of Weida on December 31, 2013.
