Loitsch is a hamlet-like district of Weida in the Greiz district in Thuringia .
location
Loitsch is located south of Weida and Steinsdorf. The district with the block corridor (1905: 195 ha) is located at the confluence of the Leuba and Weida rivers . In terms of traffic, the hamlet is covered by state road 2331, district roads 119 and 118 as well as the Loitsch-Hohenleuben train station.
history
The village was first mentioned in a document in 1340. The name of the village probably comes from Sorbian and means 'seat of the hunters'. The Loitschmühle was first mentioned in 1682. Until the end of the 19th century, Loitsch was a small farming village with larger farms. With the construction of the Weida – Mehltheuer railway line and the construction of the train station, life changed in the village. As early as the end of the 19th century, a spa was established in the village. On July 1, 1950, Loitsch was incorporated into Steinsdorf. On December 31, 2013, the place was incorporated together with Steinsdorf to Weida .
