Deschwitz is a village in the city of Weida in the Greiz district in Thuringia .

geography

The former Vorwerk Deschwitz, whose name the district now bears, is located in the north of the city of Weida. Federal highway 92 passes to the west and state road 2330 to the north. A railway line runs through the district.

history

On October 4th, 1209, the Deschwitz Vorwerk was first mentioned in a document. The Vorwerk Deschwitz cultivated 60 hectares and once belonged to the Cronschwitz Monastery and Mildenfurth Castle . In 1925 the buildings and land were assigned to the city of Weida. Sufficient space was to be created for an industrial area, as the site was along the Werdau – Mehltheuer railway line .
