Torsten Diehl

Torsten Diehl is a German theater director and author who lives in Hamburg .

Life

Even while he was still at school, Diehl took part in numerous theater productions at the Giessen City Theater and played in various bands. After graduating from high school, he completed an acting course in Hamburg and was trained by Ulrich Wildgruber , among other things, as the only student . He then studied German , theater studies and philosophy at the University of Hamburg . This was followed by an assistant director at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg , and for his first independent productions he received various sponsorship awards. He has been working as a freelance director since 1994. From 1997 to 2006 he was first chairman of the regional association of independent theaters in Hamburg, and later a member of the board of the federal association. In 2005 he founded the theater festival "150% made in hamburg", which he directed for two years. By 2010 he built up the training and further education institute "Acting Training", since 2012 he has been headmaster and lecturer at the "ISDF - Institute for Drama and Film", a private drama school in Hamburg. His productions have been part of the program at the Monsun Theater in Hamburg since 2006, and in 2011 his play Skull Opening was premiered under his direction at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg . Further productions at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus followed. Diehl's multimedia productions are characterized by visually stunning video installations and moving sound collages. His short films are made in his own production company "Kurzfilm Hamburg", where he works as a screenwriter and director, among other things.
