Schüptitz is a district of Weida in the Greiz district in Thuringia .

Schüptitz is located south of Weida on an elongated elevated plain of the Thuringian Slate Mountains that slopes eastward above the Weidatal , in which the Werdau – Mehltheuer railway runs with a stop in the district. State road 2331 passes to the west of the village . Today around 115 people live here.

history

Schüptitz was first mentioned in a document in 1320. In the community chronicle it is assumed that 1346. The Bailiffs of Weida confirm Schuptytz in a document. In this community chronicle, reference is made to the famous fortified church with its Romanesque choir tower and the natural landscape.

In the fief book of the Weidaer Jungfrauenkloster 1533-1539 the Valentine's mill was first mentioned in a document. Until 1970, the drive shaft of the water wheel operated the grinding process. Then the cutting mill was torn down. The mill house has become a residential building and the other buildings used a holiday home, which has meanwhile also been used for residential purposes. On January 1, 1974, the place was incorporated into Steinsdorf. On December 31, 2013, the community of Steinsdorf was dissolved and incorporated into Weida , making the district again.
