The village of Oberwartha is a natural monument in the Dresden village of Oberwartha and is one of the memorial trees in Dresden .

The summer linden tree on Fritz-Arndt-Platz in Oberwartha is around 23 meters high and has a trunk circumference of 5.60 meters at a height of 1.30 meters.

history

The linden tree was planted around 1600. The tree originally served as a court linden tree . In 1922, a bronze memorial plaque was attached to the trunk of the linden tree to commemorate the Oberwartha victims of the First World War . Next to the names of the 12 fallen and the years 1914 and 1918 is the slogan Forget, my people, do not forget the faithful dead! on the black board. The linden tree was placed under protection as a natural monument in 1958, "because of its size and its particular impact on the landscape, as well as for cultural and historical reasons."
