Dorky Park

Dorky Park is an international dance company based in Berlin . Its artistic director is the Argentine choreographer Constanza Macras . For the production of MIR 3: Endurance , she founded the company in 2002.

Dorky Park consists of a production office and the actual company. The company has been working with dramaturge Carmen Mehnert since 2003 and creates pieces that bring dancers, actors and musicians together with artists between the ages of four and 72 and combine text, live music, dance and video.

Productions

In the summer of 2003, the play Back to the Present was shown, which was implemented integratively in the abandoned rooms of the Jandorf department store in Berlin-Mitte. The four-hour piece was presented to the public throughout the house, including two bars and a tea room. After the success of the location-specific piece, Macras and Dorky Park designed a stage version of the piece in collaboration with the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz for the first time .

Another project in 2003 was the production Scratch Neukölln , one of the first productions of the newly founded Hebbel am Ufer . For this piece, the company hired ten children and young people from immigrant families, living in Berlin-Neukölln . In 2005, together with the Berliner Festspiele and the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz, the play Big in Bombay and in Hebbel am Ufer Sure, Shall We Talk About It? . No Wonder was also created in 2005 in collaboration with Lisi Estaras and the Hebbel am Ufer Theater. In 2007 I'm Not The Only One celebrated. Part 1 and 2 premiere in the Berliner Volksbühne im Prater.

Brickland was also created in 2007 at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz in coproduction with Kampnagel Hamburg , Teatro Comunale di Ferrara, Théâtre de la Place Liège and Le Duo Dijon. In November 2006, “Les Grandes Traversées” invited Constanza Macras and her company to their one-week festival in Bordeaux . As part of the Carte Blanche à Constanza Macras, six productions of the company were staged in 10 performances within one week. Based on the 2003 Scratch Neukölln , Dorky Park continued to work on Hell on Earth , a production with Hebbel am Ufer HAU 1, which premiered in April 2008.
